Pop Styles tournament rules

Effective June 2009

 

  1.  All games will be played under CLA rules.

  2. Final roster registration must be approved prior to the first game. Tournament officials must be advised of all players who may be called up prior to tournament play. Those players may be added to the game sheet at the discretion of the coach prior to each game.

  3. Game sheets will be prepared in advance and held at the Registration table for verification. Team officials are to report to the Registration table at least 15 minutes prior to the game and are responsible for verifying the game sheet before each game. Dressing rooms will be assigned and locks will be made available.

  4. All teams must be ready to start at the scheduled time. If necessary to stay on time or catch up, warm ups and breaks between periods may be reduced.

  5. All round robin games will consist of a 5-minute warm up, 3-15 minute running time periods with 3 minutes between periods. The last 3 minutes of the 3rd period will be stop time unless there is more than a 5-goal difference.

  6. Points in round robin play will be as follows: 1 point for each period win, ½ point for each period tie, 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss. Therefore a victory with all 3 periods being won by a team will receive 5 points.

  7. If on conclusion of round robin play, teams in a division are tied for points, the final standings will be determined as follows:

  8. Winner of head to head games

  9. Least goals against

  10. Goal average formula – goals for divided by sum of goals for and against

  11. Lowest penalty minutes

  12. All Bronze medal games will consist of a 5-minute warm up, 3-15 minute running time periods, with a 3-minute break between periods. The final 3 minutes will be stop time. (unless there is more than a 5 goal difference)

  13. All Gold medal games will consist of a 5-minute warm up, 3-20 minute running time periods, with a 3-minute break between periods. The final 3 minutes will be stop time (unless there is more than a 5 goal difference)

  14. If the medal games are tied after regulation time, there will be a 2-minute break followed by sudden victory overtime until a goal is scored.

  15. Any player or coach receiving a match penalty during the tournament will be suspended from further play in the tournament regardless of the commissioners ruling.

  16. The tournament committee has the right to remove any spectator, coach, team personnel or player who behaves in a manner that is inappropriate.
