Pop Styles Tournament Report – June 22, 2009
Port Coquitlam hosted another successful Pop Styles tournament this past weekend. There were 24 teams playing 4 games each over 5 days from June 17-21. Pee Wee A1, A2, B & C were all represented with 6 teams in each division.
I would like to thank our Poco parents for all their volunteer time and effort to make this tournament run smoothly. Each of our 4 Poco teams was required to fill ~40 hours of volunteer time per team. We appreciate the help of the individual team managers that make this happen – Sandra Bell, Tam Shepert, Satish Lal and Shauna Gibson.
Thank you very much to Sandy Pace for her work in putting the tournament schedule and volunteer list. This is a challenging job, with many changes coming on short notice. I appreciate your hard work and organization in making this go smoothly, Sandy.
Thank you very much to Linda Wiseman and Craig Labranche, our referee allocator and head referee respectively. They had to plan and book close to 100 referees for the tournament, which is a real challenge. Our referees were reliable about showing up and did a good job in their games. I received far more compliments than complaints, which is nice to hear.
My final thank you goes to our Pee Wee Divisional Manager, Renee Gillespie. Renee spent the entire 5 days with me at the arena. She not only does a fantastic job in helping organize and run the tournament, she is great company to have and I thank you very much for all your help, Renee. We and the Pee Wee division are lucky to have you with our association
